Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix for PlayStation Portable closely mirrors the console and PC versions but includes some added/removed features. It was released on March 15, 2005.

Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix takes players on a completely new skateboarding journey as they embark on an ultimate road trip from Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, causing chaos in four unprecedented levels in the city – Las Vegas, Atlanta, Kyoto, and Santa Cruz. Gameplay in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: Remix is similar to that of previous Tony Hawk games: players skate in a three-dimensional environment resembling various cities and attempt to achieve different goals. Most goals involve skating on or over different objects or performing trick combos. Scores are calculated by adding the point value of each trick performed in a combo together in a run and then multiplied by the number of tricks in the combo.

Many levels from previous games return, including the expanded warehouse (which also serves as a training area in Story Mode), School and Downhill Jam from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Canada, Los Angeles, and Airport from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, and Philadelphia from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2. The Classic mode, which appeared in Underground 2, is featured in Remix. The game features four-player wireless play.

Two exclusive levels (Santa Cruz and Kyoto) from Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: Remix were recycled in the special edition of Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, while Atlanta returned in Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland: Collector’s Edition.

A sequel to Underground was announced for the first time on January 29, 2004. During development, Neversoft sent its members to notable locations within the game to familiarize themselves more with the areas. Shaba Games, which previously developed Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX and ported Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 for the PlayStation, adapted the game for the handheld device.

The game received generally positive reviews upon release. Chris Roper of IGN called Underground 2: Remix “virtually a perfect extended port of the console release,” giving it a score of 8.7/10. Jeff Gerstmann of GameSpot commented, “This remix of the already mixed-up original provides nearly everything that was great about the console releases, and with the inclusion of four new levels, the single-player experience is even better,” giving it a score of 8.5/10.
