LocoRoco 2 is a platform game developed by Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is a sequel to the 2006 game LocoRoco and was released for the PSP handheld gaming console in 2008. A redesigned version was released on December 9, 2017, for the PlayStation 4.

After successfully defeating the Moja army, the LocoRoco settled into their peaceful lives. However, Bon Mucho, the head of the Moja, is not ready to accept defeat. He invents a terrible song that can suck the life force out of living beings, launching a new attack on the LocoRoco. Armed with this terrifying song, the Moja ride their meteorite and embark on a mission to conquer the LocoRoco planet. As they return, the LocoRoco find a new MuiMui house, but shortly after, the meteorite crashes onto Nyokki, and the Mojas begin their attack again. Thus, LocoRoco sets out on an epic journey to restore life force to living beings and defeat the Moja army.

Live peacefully on a distant planet, LocoRoco and their friends, the Mui Mui, help cultivate vegetation and care for nature, making the planet a fun place where they play and sing in the faraway days. When the Moja Troop comes to the planet to seize it, LocoRoco doesn’t know how to fight these space invaders. Thus, the player assumes the role of the “planet,” able to tilt back and forth, launch LocoRoco into the air, defeat the Moja Troop, and save LocoRoco. Along the way, the player will encounter various different characters, some unknown to the player. The player must figure out how to interact with these characters, learn what they know, and determine whether they are helpful or should be avoided as enemies.

Armed with a deadly song that kills all living beings, the evil Moja army returned to enslave the LocoRoco! Help LocoRoco restore life and music to the Earth in this exciting new installment. Complete with the same unified gameplay that made it an instant classic, alongside entirely new abilities and challenges.

The player controls the planet inhabited by LocoRoco to move LocoRoco around. The player can also split the larger LocoRoco into individual LocoRoco and then reassemble them. Splitting is required to fit through tight spaces and also to solve various puzzles. (For example, smaller LocoRoco starts singing when left idle for a period, which is required at the end of levels.) There are 5 worlds to be cleared, each consisting of 8 levels.

The goal of each level is to find as many “berries” as possible and consume them to increase the size of LocoRoco, up to a maximum of 20. There are also “Pickories” and “Mui Mui” to be found. “Pickories” are used as currency for the Mui Mui Crane and Chuppa Chuppa mini-games, while “Mui Mui” unlocks more mini-games and music for the Loco House. The player must also be careful to avoid enemies, especially “Bumpies” (spiky obstacles) and “Moja,” which can cause them to lose LocoRoco or even die if the last LocoRoco is lost.
