Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden on PSP is a fighting game based on the Fist of the North Star anime. The game features multiple modes such as Story mode, Free Battle, Time Attack, and Survival. It also has a local Wi-Fi multiplayer function, allowing you to play with your friends.

Fans of the ’80s anime or manga series Fist of the North Star will recall the classic tale. In a post-apocalyptic future, desperate crowds struggle for limited resources. Deadly gangs prey on the weak, and violence and death are the order of the day. In this backdrop enters Kenshiro, the master of the ancient martial art Hokuto Shinken, known as “Fist of the North Star.” Kenshiro wanders the wastelands, spending most of his time doing two things: reflecting on his troubled past and using his formidable combat skills to eliminate anyone standing in his way. The excessively bloody violence of this series makes it a good choice for a video game adaptation.

This new PSP game, titled Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden Ten no Haoh, inspired by the new anime of the same name, includes characters such as Raoh, Thouzer, Uighur, Jagi, and Reina.

The gameplay environment features an “Attack Cancel” mechanic, where a player’s punch or kick is canceled if the opponent punches or kicks at the same time. The only result if this happens is a circular flash on the screen. There is also a special gauge for the strength of movement that allows characters to perform “Kyukyoku Ogi” (instant kill-type move) when fully charged. Several stages include destructible elements, including a prison cell that can be completely demolished.

Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden – Ten no Haou, or Fist of the North Star, is an action and fighting video game published by Interchannel and released on January 22, 2009, for the PlayStation Portable. There are over a dozen characters, plus an entirely original character designed specifically for this game. Each has its set of attacks and abilities with special moves that can be used to defeat the opponent.

As in the original manga, the game focuses on Raoh, Kenshiro’s older brother and a ruthless warlord. The story mode puts the player in the role of Raoh, battling many characters encountered in the original story, while the versus mode allows players to choose any character and fight against the CPU or another player via Wi-Fi.
