Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix for the PlayStation Portable closely mirrors the console and PC versions but includes some added/removed features. It was released on March 15, 2005.

Gameplay in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: Remix is similar to previous Tony Hawk games: the player skates in a three-dimensional environment resembling various cities and attempts to achieve different objectives. Most objectives involve skating on or over different objects or performing sets of tricks. Scores are calculated by adding the total point value for each trick strung together in a combo and then multiplied by the number of tricks in the combo.

Many levels from previous games return, including the expanded Warehouse (which also serves as a training area in Story Mode), School and Downhill Jam from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Canada, Los Angeles, and Airport from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, and Philadelphia from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2. The Classic mode, which appeared in Underground 2, is featured in Remix. The game features wireless play for up to four players.

Two exclusive levels (Santa Cruz and Kyoto) from Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: Remix were recycled for inclusion in the console version of Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, while Atlanta was included in Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland: Collector’s Edition.

The sequel to Underground was announced for the first time on January 29, 2004. During development, Neversoft sent its members to featured locations within the game to get a better understanding of the areas. Shaba Games, which previously developed Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX and the port of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 for the PlayStation, adapted the game for the handheld device.

The game received overall positive reviews upon release. Chris Roper from IGN praised Underground 2: Remix as an “almost-perfect extended port of the console version,” giving it a rating of 8.7/10. Jeff Gerstmann from GameSpot commented that this remixed version of the original provides almost everything that was great about console versions, with the inclusion of four new levels, improving the single-player experience, and giving it a rating of 8.5/10.
