Rocky Balboa for PPSSPP is a 2007 video game based on the movie of the same name for the PlayStation Portable device. It is similar in style and content to Rocky Legends. The game includes scenes from each Rocky movie, showcasing the key battles in the film series. There are also flashbacks of training scenes from the movies used in the Mickey’s Corner section of the game, which is an instructional program aimed at teaching new players how to play. It is also the last video game released by MGM Interactive before the company’s shutdown in late 2007. This is a great game, and if you love Rocky movies or boxing in general, get this game. It’s worth it.

It’s a fantastic game, improved better than two previous games released for the PlayStation 2, during the 4-year period before the release of the “Rocky Balboa” PSP game. Reasons include the ability to control Rocky Balboa and Tommy Gunn in their street clothes as seen in the “Rocky V” street fight, something you couldn’t do in the Rocky game on PlayStation 2 from 2002, and many additions. The game also features a good soundtrack. I give the game 8 out of 10 as an overall rating.

The game has a variety of different modes. Historical Fights is the main gameplay mode, putting Rocky against all his different opponents throughout the franchise, from Spider Rico (Rocky) to Mason Dixon (Rocky Balboa). Once Rocky defeats all his opponents, the story pattern flips, making the first battle “Spider Rico VS Rocky” and the final battle “Mason Dixon VS Rocky Balboa.”

There are 27 different boxer choices. There are standalone versions of Rocky with variations in age, weight (as per the film), and attire (black/gold, white/red variations). There are alternative versions of Apollo Creed and two different sets for Tommy Gunn. Players can choose from 18 different arenas to fight in, including many of the main boxing arenas from the film series, such as the Philadelphia Field and Las Vegas.

Fast Lane is designed for quick play, where the player chooses a challenge and tries to complete it by defeating the other fighter in the available time. The different time limits are 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes. Each section contains 18 matches, making the total 90 matches. At the start of the game, only 10% is available. Each additional match is unlocked in sequential order, so completing “Facing Clubber 1” will open up “Facing Clubber 2.” This game supports local multiplayer and has an autosave feature.
